The Nigeria Union, South Africa on Tuesday urged Nigerians resident in Mpumalanga Province to be cautious following the escape of four lions from the zoo in the area.

Williams Mabasa, the spokesman for the South African National Parks, said four male lions escaped from the Kruger National Park at Mpumalanga Province on Sunday.
The Tourism and Parks Agency of Mpumalanga province, where part of the Kruger Park is located, said it was helping rangers and the police in their search for the lions.
Reginald Amadi, Chairman of the Nigerian union in the area, told the News Agency of Nigeria at Mbombela in Mpumalanga Province, that it had sent messages to Nigerians to adopt safety measures.
Amadi said: "The union has been in touch with Nigerians in the province. As we speak, the lions have not been found. It has become necessary to be cautious and ensure that we adopt safety measures."
He also said that the chapter had reported the incident to its national body and was on top of the situation.
Adetola Olubajo, the Secretary-General of the union, confirmed that it had received the message from the province.
He said: "It is important for us to be proactive; hence we support the action taken by the chapter in the province. We join in advising Nigerians to be safety conscious until the lions are captured."
Olubajo said that the union would continue to monitor the situation and was in touch with the province’s chapter.
The escape of the four lions followed that of five lions in May.
Four of them were captured and taken back to the park, but the fifth has not been found. Mabasa said it might have returned to the park by itself.
